The Surge of Redacted Activism Based on Pro-Palestinian Ideals.

To see these Ivy Leaguers scrambling to rescind their love and support for Palestine shows how trivial their initial statements were. If they believed what they claimed to stand behind, then why rescind your vile letters of unwavering support? Is it because these Fortune 500 companies don’t want to be associated with terrorism? Or maybe it’s because, since this is a humanitarian issue above all else, they don’t want employees who are backing a group that rapes, murders, and tortures innocent civilians—Palestinian and Israeli alike.

That’s what’s so funny about these “civil rights activists.” If they aren’t praised for supporting the “underdog,” they pull out entirely. Is that how activism works? If you believe that Hamas is doing the right thing by obliterating the Jewish world, then why pull out once companies blacklist you? Shouldn’t that make your little activist hearts beat faster? Shouldn’t this sudden wave of hate coming your way propel you to show that your position is the right one? I don’t think I am the only one confused by this wave of reverse activism.

You see, you can’t quite “take back” letters spread to the masses stating your support for Hamas. There is no “psych never mind” button during this civil unrest. You cannot justify why you supported a group like Hamas in the first place because, As an American, as a human, there is no justification.

Especially the minority groups that support Hamas, you have no idea what Hamas stands for. That’s the greatest part of this whole thing. You support a group that would murder you just as fast as they would murder me. They’d kill you for being from the West, they’d kill you for being a part of the LGBTQ+ movement, they’d kill you for being a woman, and they’d most certainly kill you for not being Muslim. Palestinians are imprisoned by Hamas and subjected to their wrath every day. By waving the Palestinian flag or saying "Free Palestine" as Hamas murders innocent people, you effectively group innocent civilians with terrorists. That's the harsh reality. Ordinary citizens do not reflect the government they live within.

I want to reiterate that Hamas is not just an anti-Zionist or anti-Jewish group but an anti-human group. They do not value life; instead, they value death. They seek to destroy Democracy and weaken the spirit of all nations, not just Israel. Hamas hates you, the person reading this who lives in a Western, first-world nation, just as much as they hate me. Terrorism is black and white; there is no sugarcoating it. Democracy provides us with the comforts of having our rights protected and our lives valued, something that Hamas does not believe in. To justify or rationalize the actions of a terrorist organization means that you do not appreciate where you live and the beauty of what Democracy brings the world.
